Styrofoam head!

Stumbled upon this while my fiancee shopped at a local beauty supply store. I thought it would be a great reference for lighting/drawing the human head so i bought it. For only four dollars you too can own your very own styrofoam head. Get it today!

Christmas Rough

Here's an ink sketch of an idea i had for a Christmas card. The bird on the tree is my lovebird, Jujube, whom recently past away. Thought it would be nice to create a card that pays tribute to her.

Crappy comics corner...

Messing around with ink and brush.

Revisited a drawing from an earlier post. Trying to make things read clearly without the whole thing becoming a stiff mess. The operative word being, "trying".

Another excericse i've been doing is drawing two characters interacting with each other. Never intended it to be a sequence, but the drawings started to relate with eachother and i went with it.

Just draw....

A long time ago, i had a conversation with a classmate about dealing with self doubt when it came to my artwork. This was his advice:

"You talk too much, man. Just draw. Look, i know my work ain't shit, but i do it anyway because i love it."

Here's to you, classmate who's name i've long since forgotten.

The child ain't right

The drawing above was inspired by one of my favorite toys as a kid: BOGLINS. They were a collection of creepy hand puppets, complete with shifty glow-in-the-dark eyes. Being made of rubber, you could contort their faces into all sorts of gnarly expressions. Drool(featured below) was my favorite one. Despite all the good times we shared together, i eventually grew bored of him and coldly tossed him up onto a telephone pole. I would regretfully stare up at his lifeless rubber corpse each morning on the way to school until one day he was gone. Sorry Drool. I didn't know any better.

A depressing sight....

Almost everytime i go to a restaurant I see something like this:

I'll probably tighten up the drawing, but i thought i'd put up the rough sketch for now.

Ahh the memories....

The following drawing was inspired by something my father used to yell whenever he saw me playing videogames.

"Allllll day, Allllll night......GAME!!!"

Clothes....

It's rare that you'll see a drawing from me where the females are fully clothed. A lot of that has to do with my complete lack of fashion sense, and also my inability to make anything beyond a two piece bikini look good. With that in mind, i took a couple of my fiancee's fashion mags and attempted to incorporate a few outfits onto my drawings. Here's two that didn't completely suck.

Readin'

Sorry for the above image. I have a tendency to draw on lined paper. Something intimidating about a blank sheet of paper.

Wheelchair....

Lately i've been trying to push myself to compose full scenes, rather than a bunch of floating naked girls. Needless to say, i had a really difficult time with it, and during the process i thought to myself, "well @#!*, there's a lot of stuff i have no clue how to draw."

Ugly dad

A result of my recent obsession with Hank Ketcham's Dennis the Menace comic strip. Sincere apologies in advance to Mr. Ketcham, and his ghosts.
